Hi Guys - As many of you know, last July, my father passed away suddenly from a punishing condition called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. It is a disease of the lungs which aggressively attacks the respiratory system eventually causing it to shut down. It is a rare condition which has had very little research into it and because of this there is ultimately no cure and very little out there to even control this disease, and help people who have it live a decent life. However through the British Lung Foundation they are trying every year to encourage more funding to help people who are struggling with this condition and in the long term create a cure. My sister and I set up a Breath of Life Fund in my dad's memory so well wishers could donate to this cause and I would be very grateful if you could help me with this by doing the same. But how am I challenging myself to raise money for this? Well............On the 26th June a friend and myself will be walking the West Highland Way and time permitting also climbing Ben Nevis, which is the highest mountain on the British Isles. The West Highland Way is close to 100 miles through the rugged Scottish wilderness and just to make things tougher we are carrying all our sleeping equipment and food with us instead of doing a "Bear Grylls" and sleeping each night in a caravan. We have given ourselves 5 days to complete the walk and 2 days for Nevis with a night wild camping near the summit. This adventure will be challenging but also very rewarding as I will be experiencing some of the most stunning scenery in the world. If you would like to sponsor me for this challenge then I have attached a link through to my dad's Breath of Life Fund where you can donate online on the right of the page. Thank you once again for all your donations, which will raise awareness of this condition - http://lunguk.tributefunds.com/fund/Gordon+Mc+Dowall/showFund/ Cheers Gordon.
